Our EasyMineXR mixed-reality software addresses a major challenge geologists face when exploring potential areas of mineralization. By blending physical and digital worlds, EasyMineXR enables visualization of subsurface conditions and transformation of mine site interpretation and characterization.

Microsoft HoloLens, the first mixed reality headset, was released in 2016. After experiencing this brand-new technology, Prof. Doug Stead and Emre Onsel from Simon Fraser University and Wayne Barnett from SRK saw potential for using it as an outcrop mapping tool. Given this joint vision, they decided to collaborate on developing the mixed reality application EasyMineXR.
Development of this product began in 2018 as a joint Mitacs Accelerate project and proceeded in 2019 with a second phase. In 2020, Emre Onsel joined SRK and development continued in house with the addition of virtual reality and desktop versions of the software.
